Introduction
Trailers are heavy things that require a lot of care and protection. True, they may not be as vulnerable to wear and tear as many other goods may be but it is still advantageous to stock up on a few accessories and goods to keep inside utility and flatbed trailers just to be on the safer side. These accessories are not just meant for safety but they also help in increasing the overall value of the trailer. So, if a trailer has been in the family for ages, it is probably best to invest in a few accessories so that the value of the vehicle goes up and return on investment can still be gained.
There are a number of accessories available in the market for both types of trailers. Some may be a little less important than others are – however, each has its own specific use. Let’s have a look at what these may be.
Toolbox
Toolboxes are possibly the smartest and most intelligent investment to make in accessories for trailers. They can be needed at all times and having them stored up inside the trailer somewhere is a clever thing to do. The boxes need to be strong and should be capable of enduring wear and tear. Aluminum toolboxes that are fully welded are a good option to ensure that strength of the box.
One may need to consider what sort of tools are to be stored. This factor will determine the actual size of the box. If, for example, one only needs to store a couple of pliers, then a small box that is the size of a drawer, perhaps, will be sufficient. Conversely, a box to story extra parts for flatbed or utility trailers, like tyres, will require a larger box.
Straps for flatbeds
Flatbed trailers, like the name rightfully suggests, tend to not have any walls or railings to protect the fall of the foods lying over the trailer. So, getting straps for a flatbed trailer is the simplest and most obvious solution to this problem. They should have rubber hooks to go with them so that their durability is increased. Again, strength will be the greatest thing to consider when browsing for the straps in the shops. It is better to buy them in bulk because they tend to break easily due to the load that they have to protect and the extensive pulling that they have to endure all the time. It is also smart to get some racks for the flatbed where the goods being transported will be placed.
Fenders
Fenders are protective covers that are inserted over the wheels of the trailers. Again, this is for the tyres’ longevity and protection. Both flatbeds and utility trailers may have these installed for added protection. Most fenders are made from some kind of steel to ensure strength, although aluminum is the most reliable. They also vary in size and width according to either the tyre’s size or the owner’s preference. They are available in many different styles in the market.
